6th round: “Must the EU become more sovereign and assertive on migration, security and energy policy?”
From 04 June to 03 September 2022
The Russian war of agression in Ukraine is a major turning point for Europe. Not only is the independence of a single state in immediate danger, but the entire West with its values, democratic practices and prosperity is being challenged. At the same time, the war relentlessly exposes the weaknesses of the European Union. Dependencies on fossil fuel imports, an unsettled approach to refugees from many parts of the world and a lack of military capabilities have made the union vulnerable to external attacks and attempts at destabilization. Moreover, the EU is not perceived as a decisive actor in security and resource issues. Often enough, it is the US, China and Russia that set the tone. The EU must therefore become more sovereign and assertive.
Organize your own HomeParliament in one of 8 languages or participate in one – digital or offline. Discuss and decide on the following questions:
- Should eligibility for asylum in the EU, already be examined and decided outside of the EU?
- Should the EU undertake operations in other countries with its own army in order to stabilize and pacify them?
- Should new buildings and major house renovations in the EU that do not integrate renewable energies (solar, wind, geothermal, etc.) no longer be permitted?

This is how your European HomeParliament works
A HomeParliament is a private discussion group with 3 to 8 participants. You can either invite your friends or have yourself assigned to an interesting discussion group. It all takes place either online via Video-HomeParliament or in a face-to-face meeting.
In your HomeParliament you will have about 2 hours to discuss three proposals on an issue of EU politics. We provide you with simple instructions on how to do this.
Then, you submit the results of your discussions to our platform where the results of all European HomeParliaments are collected. These represent the wishes of all HomeParliaments. In this way, you are advising top EU politicians who are happy to exchange ideas with you.
Materials and support for your HomeParliament
Starting or participating in a HomeParliament is easy. These materials and tips will help you with that.
Have a say in the big issues
After your HomeParliament, the process continues:
With the results from the HomeParliaments from different parts of Europe, you will be advising renowned EU politicians. These politicians have agreed to take the findings into account in their deliberations and then give feedback in webinars, video statements or in writing.
